One of the key clues that led the authorities to the identification, location and subsequent capture of the criminals were dozens of hours of recordings from security cameras installed in the San Andresito San José sector, in the center of the capital, in which several of those arrested today could be seen carrying out activities related to the extortion cases, which today have them in the hands of the Prosecutor's Office.
The National Police identified the premises where the members of the Tren de Aragua had set up their headquarters and proceeded to capture these members of the criminal gang. Hundreds of doses of marijuana, bazuco and cocaine, as well as ammunition and firearms were seized during the raid.
According to police sources, alias El Negro, who was captured, has more than 14 criminal records, including serious crimes such as homicide and kidnapping.
The extortions attributed to the members of the Aragua train have transcended the borders of Kennedy, where the first complaints were filed by merchants, public service drivers and sex workers. During the last few months, residents of Bosa and the districts of Los Mártires and Santa Fe, in the center of the city, began to receive similar threats.
Authorities hope that with the most recent arrests, extortion rates will drop considerably.
